Captive!

captive

American held captive in former Soviet prison - Latvia. Perhaps I'll write about this place. In the meantime, enjoy the photo. :) I don't even remember the nature of my offense. Probably it's written on this card, and I simply can't understand the Russian. You can pose in various military outfits, but I have no idea what rank this uniform signifies. The color is difficult to see in the scanned postcard, however the jacket and hat are dark green. I think the guard got extra enjoyment pretending to punish and torture an American. Cool experience.

This is an interesting country. I hope one day I'll return to explore further. In case you missed my first post about Latvia a few months ago, you can view here:

Ventspils, Latvia

Tomorrow I'll tell you about Latvian Hollywood!

I can't read any of these stamps. So lazy in my studies of the Russian language. And all my readers are speaking English so well, it's not necessary. :)

I forgot I have several readers from Latvia. :) You're still in Riga? We didn't visit this city. Doctors still don't know what my skin problem is. :( However, I tested negative for measles, chicken pox, shingles, mumps and viral or bacterial infections. So this is good. Now I have to see a dermatologist. Thanks for checking on my health.

Thank you! It's very difficult to be cute on busy travel schedules, with almost no sleep. :)

I have two of these. However, without a photo, but with a penalty. A real prisoner of conscience and booze

No offence but judging by the picture you also didn't mind it much. :-)

Actually very good idea. Raises awareness of the political repressions in Soviet Times.

The lady taking the photo sternly told me to - "DO NOT SMILE." However, when someone says this to you it becomes even more difficult to keep a straight face. Plus, I'm American. We smile a lot. :))

Funny, but he's not sorry at all. Our sanctions so far have had no impact on him. In this regard, Obama needs to toughen up and hit Putin in the balls w/tougher consequences. However, most American prefer that we stay out of the situation entirely, and fight battles and issues on our own homeland.

I have no idea what rank this uniform signifies
I guess it's an incomplete cap of a colonel of a soviet aviation. Order planks replaces a bunch of orders, I guess they are also used in US army.

Thanks, maybe you're right. I tried to research the uniform online, but came up empty handed.
