Surviving Without Sex

no-sex-tq

For a long time, I've wanted to write about this topic and explain why some women become celibate during certain periods in their life. Sometimes this is a conscious choice, and other times it happens unexpectedly as a defensive measure, out of fear of intimacy or being hurt when a relationship sours and ends. I will share my own experience in a separate post, but I don't think most of my readers, who are male, will even remotely understand the psychology behind such a decision. So, I ask a quick question. What is the longest period of time you've gone without sex?

As others have stated in the comments, it gives you time to focus on yourself. There's great value in that. :) I know it's hard for men to fathom this concept.

I don't remember....Never counted.....either never been without sex too long to notice or just was busy with other things in life to think about it.

I hope it was the latter. :) It has been the case with me, I think when you have a lot of interests and stay busy you don't worry or think about men and sex as much.

Isn't this old to lose your virginity in Russia? It seems you should be married and have a few children by 24. Old maid!! :))

I had no sex for over 2 years following the immigration. Was not good. I understand the sex works different for many women and they can be perfectly happy without sex for years.

Was this by choice, or it just took a while for you to adjust to the new culture and environment?

31. I am a female.
When I was young and had a boyfriend, I was too chaste (and stupid). Since then I had no mutual love, and I just cannot do it without it. I really don't think it's normal.

We all make mistakes in youth. Once I hit my 30's and especially 40's, I became completely comfortable being alone. Of course, I will be very happy and open if the right person comes along, but not just "anyone." I don't have enough patience or energy to deal with all that bullshit and drama that seems to surround modern day relationships. I prefer the old school way, before people knew about texting and Facebook. :) Things were more genuine.

Do you think the Catholic church will ever change, and permit priests to have sexual relations and/or be married? I'm not sure if Orthodox priests can be married? About this religion, I'm constantly confused.

Why this face? I'm not trolling readers! It's a serious question I'm asking, for research purposes. :)

or is trolling?

Why would I laugh at them? I've been celibate several times throughout my life. Why talk about it? Why do we talk about anything on the Internet? :) Because it's interesting to learn about others, and understand human psychology. For me, there's a strong psychological and emotional component to sex.

Just realized, that I can't recall ))) but for me it was about a year, I think. And Simon said the worst case that happened to him was a 5-6 months break :)

Come on, a Siberian go-go dancer must have many wild stories and conquests. :))) I think you should write a book! And sex in Siberia must be necessary not only for fun, but for survival and warmth. Hello to Simon! :)

Why should we care? It looks like the world has shifted into an opposite spectrum of what is right and what is wrong. Now, it is "wrong" to live without sex, and "right" to have sex often. I think it is nobody's business and a matter of personal preferences. If I used to like coffee in the morning and then stopped it for a couple of years, who really cares and why should they care? I will resume it as soon as I have desire and mood to do so. It is same with sex.

I am a man, just for reference. :))

We shouldn't care. It was just a question for research purposes. People should have sex with whomever they wish, and whenever they want. It's good for the mind, soul and stress. :))The main thing is that they remain emotionally healthy and physically pleased through the process. Sex is dangerous when it becomes a duty, a manipulative tool, or occurs out of force.

There is a Russian joke. A professor asks his students who have sex at least several times a week to raise their hands. About half of the auditorium raises hands. He asks who has sex several times a month - again, many more hands are raised. There is a sole remaining guy. The professor asks him - "how often"? The student smiles and happily says "once a year".

Professor: "Why are you so happy then"?
Student: "Today IS THE DAY"!:))
