С новым годом!

russian-salad-olivier

Olivier, vodka, Putin's speech, family, friends, so many days off from work...Happy New Year!! :) I will spend tomorrow in the woods, in a secluded cabin, away from humanity and the drunkards! For me, 2015 was boring, some form of discontent began to arise, and there was almost no international travel. Things started out well in February with another amazing adventure in Russia, and then it would be another seven months before I crossed the ocean for a short trip to Southern France, to spend time with one of my closest friends. The face of LJ continued to change to become more and more yellow, jaundice was rampant and it seems that the era of intelligent writing and interest in travel stories is now dead. But I will continue to write and share thoughts about my journeys, social issues and cultural perceptions. My favorite photo of the year?let's see!Collapse )

Happy New Year!

Of course I will celebrate.
Putin's speech and so on for me and my wife and a Lego Millenium Falcon for my son next morning :)

New Year in good old days.

Great photos! When I watched Putin's speech a few years ago, it was so strange for me. :)) Even on a big holiday, he had such a stern expression, so serious, no joyful expressions. My nephew also got Lego's for Christmas, Star Wars' theme!

Happy New Year!
We are getting together with my Russian friends. My poor American boyfriend has to go through all these customs of ours: The movie, the winter salad, Putin's speech and so on(my friend even has a sauna in her basement). I'm making a cake "Napoleon". Soviet Champaign will be present too.....

Soviet champagne? :)) Where do you find that in the USA? A sauna in the basement sounds great! It is interesting you date an American man! Do you notice a lot of differences between American and Russian men?

What do you mean by "vodka"? Not vodka, but shampain!

Most Russians are drinking champagne? Everyone I know drinks vodka. :) And I recently read an article about how vodka consumption in Russia soars to extreme levels during the long New Year's holiday. The article stated that 1.5 BILLION liters of alcohol are consumed in these 10 days! http://brainskewer.com/bs/20150920/average-russian-drinks-over-10-liters-alcohol-over-new-years-holiday

Please do not lead the Russian rite-believers into Sin, I beg of you!

Only the Christians and others may celebrate the New Year - which I wish you a lot of fun in!

My fun is over! I have a big celebration at Christmas. New Year's is not so exciting, and usually I am asleep at midnight. :)

And this will be a very sad year for me, the second year in the row I cannot buy a decent wall calendar :(
My favorites are Charles Wysocki, Michel Delacroix, Michael Parkes, Art nouveau, Americana naive art, etc.
I've been through practically all book stores in Beantown, no choice. My last try is the MIT Coop (the Harvard Coop sold me only a small Mucha piece)

Do wish me luck!

Yes, the Russians have taken over LJ! :) No Americans I know have even heard of this site, and I can't find any quality English language writers here. Most American travelers and bloggers have stand alone websites.

Do you have a white New Year's, with snow? It seems winter is hiding this year, with very warm temperatures around the globe.
