С новым годом!

Olivier, vodka, Putin's speech, family, friends, so many days off from work...Happy New Year!! :) I will spend tomorrow in the woods, in a secluded cabin, away from humanity and the drunkards! For me, 2015 was boring, some form of discontent began to arise, and there was almost no international travel. Things started out well in February with another amazing adventure in Russia, and then it would be another seven months before I crossed the ocean for a short trip to Southern France, to spend time with one of my closest friends. The face of LJ continued to change to become more and more yellow, jaundice was rampant and it seems that the era of intelligent writing and interest in travel stories is now dead. But I will continue to write and share thoughts about my journeys, social issues and cultural perceptions. My favorite photo of the year?let's see!Collapse )

You did not understand my comment, perhaps there is something wrong with the online translation. I am referring to Putin's New Year's speech to Russians. This is a New Year's tradition in Russia, but not the USA. Our Presidents don't conduct speeches on this holiday. That's what I was referring to. Happy New Year!

С Новым годом! - Happy New Year!
Normally we invite guests or visit someone as guests. But contrary to this tradition, today we will go out and meet the New Year in the cafe-club in central Moscow with a relative of ours and her boyfriend.
We wish you happiness, luck and success in your future travels!

Happy New Year!
They say there are 3 ages: you beleive in Ded Moroz; you don't believe in Ded Moroz; you are Ded Moroz. I've survived till the the third one. Every year I my take part of helping Ded Moroz (too many affairs for the very him) at the pre-school educational center. You can see it at its site
The New Year Night I'm always at home making a feast for my family. There are large holidays after that when I visit my relatives in Estonia. I often dream of the holidays in the wilderness of the woods as you wrote. These are just nice dreams yet. )

It's great work you do with the children! Greetings to Estonia! I really like this country. I hope you enjoy your holiday and have a relaxing time!

It is very sad, that you Shannon wanted to get away from humans at the New Year day. It is the tradition for Russian to get together at this magic time.
May be this song will make you happier

Jan. 3rd, 2016 04:59 pm (UTC)
Why is it sad? I find solace and joy away from the crowds, in serene nature settings. And I was with my family on this day - this is the main thing.

Bad blogs ain't problem with "hide from top" functionality. I have about 2/3 of LJ top hidden (always can check for hidden posts to see that).

As for vodka vs champagne, it's a tradition in Russia to drink champagne and only champagne during the actual transition between two years, when Kremlin clocks are ringing on TV. At the corporate parties in the end of December or during the long January holidays any drinks could be consumed.
Jan. 6th, 2016 02:20 pm (UTC)
I was speaking about the entire long holiday when I wrote "vodka," not only New Year's Eve. :) What do you do during this long break from work?
