put-the-toilet-seat-up

When you haven't lived with a man for a long time, you forget about their annoying habits. Now I live with not one, but TWO men! I have two male roommates and we share a bathroom. This creates household wars and horrors! The women in the house argue that the men should always put the toilet seat down after they pee. The men say "why!?!, just push it down when you need to sit!" What is the proper etiquette? :) Men, do you put the toilet seat down after you pee? I beg you to please do it if you share a bathroom with a woman. I can hardly describe the feeling of being half asleep, crawling out of a warm bed in the middle of the night, entering a dark bathroom and sitting down only to discover the toilet seat is up. Suddenly you fall into the bowl and your ass is splashed with cold water! Instant alarm clock! :)) It looks something like this....

toiletseatup

Yes, this is a First World problem for sure, but a serious one. :) And there is another mystery of the universe. Why do even grown men sometimes miss the bowl and pee on the floor when they're standing up? Is that thing in your pants so difficult to control? :))

It's hysterical!
I was blessed with men that always kept the sit down(all of them were cleaning their bathrooms themselves so they usually were very careful and clean with it :)) So I'm a spoiled brat he, he....

Yes, you are a diva and spoiled! :)) Btw, how would I write the title of this post in Russian? Is it - Мужской туалет этикет - вверх или вниз?

You haven't trained the dog to use the toilet yet? :)) I see some photos online of cats who are potty trained. :)

The thing is reaaaally difficult to control in the mornings.
As it looks everyrthere above the horizon but never into the bowl for at least half an hour after one awakens.
On behalf of the male readers...
Sorry for the mess. We just can not really control it, ;)

My two men (husband and son) seat on the toilet no matter what the purpose, lol. It's more hygenic and nothing humiliating for man. And they are both cleaning toilets time to times, so they are also interested in less "drops and spills around", hehe...lucky me. Sure no seating in public places where no one would seat on a toilet:))

This is selffish. We also do not like to put the seat up. Also if you insist to put it down. It could be worst, men just pee with seat down. Now you have to deal with urine on the seat.

This is better than falling in the toilet bowl! :)) I constantly wipe pee from the floor from my roommates. It's really disgusting.

You know how to raise an important topics!

Men ask "why?" for a reason. As it's inconvenient for women to put the seat down - it's exactly same inconvenient for men to raise the seat up. But we do and don't make a big deal out of it. Only women can't stop complaining. Why?

> I can hardly describe the feeling of being half asleep, crawling out of a warm bed in the middle of the night, entering a dark bathroom and sitting down only to discover the toilet seat is up.

I can hardly describe the feeling entering a dark bathroom, ready to pee over yourself, only to discover the seat is down, and you have to feel for it and raise it! Or would you prefer your man just peeing like it is, splashing all over the seat? :)

It is so difficult to aim into the bowl when the seat is up? Maybe I underestimate the difficulty of peeing standing up. :)) Never tried it.

You just have to agree on one of the following state - fully open or fully close.
Permanently when not in use .
That's fair.

Why would a woman want the toilet seat up? It serves no purpose for females. But if they are willing to abide by their husband's choice, then sure it's okay. They will know the seat is up, and not be surprised as I often am. :) Relationships are all about compromise. :)

From my experience of living with male roommates - this can happen when they are drunk.
As for keeping the toilet seat down I can't understand men either. What is the difference where to pee? If you are accurate enough you won't spoil both the toilet and the seat, if you are not - you'll have to clean in any case (or the toilet, or the seat).
So I think toilets should be once and for all made with unmovable seats ;)))

For some women - It's more of a control thing... There is no logical reason, but you have to do it so she knows you behave.

I never go nuts for this, better have it up than peed. If I need, I put it down. If they need, they put it up. Where does this rule come from really? :)

Here's a prank my cousin told me they had done as kids in a sleepaway camp:

1. Lift the toilet seat;
2. Stretch clear Saran wrap over the bowl;
3. Put the seat back down;
4. Wait for the results.

This was in the US, of course. Russian camps usually didn't even have toilets, much less Saran wrap.

I am living with two women, my girlfriend and her daughter, and now I put it down always. But my darling asked me about this in past, because I used to never did it before. It is a kind of courtesy, I think. It's true, women often visit rest room in half asleep state.
But when I was in the United States, my colleague said, laughing, an ad in the toilet for women: "If you want to do it standing, like a horse, please raise the seat to give others a chance" (I'm not sure that the correct spelling of course). So it's not problem of shared toilet with men only, is it?

If the woman does not say anything, then it isn't an issue. But I have asked them to put it down, and they refuse. It is like a battle of the sexes in the house. :)) They do it mostly because they know it annoys me, and they find it humorous. It's like in elementary school or high school, where boys always pick on girls they secretly like. :))
