What lifts you?

FullSizeRender (2)

I'm sorry I've been disconnected recently, but I have no motivation or creative inspiration for the blog the past few weeks. I don't know what's causing this extreme dry spell, or general sense of apathy. Such a dreary, moody disposition is rare for me, and hopefully it will soon pass. In the meantime, here's an example of just one of the beautiful street art scenes I saw in San Antonio, Texas last week. I've always admired birds. I guess it's because they see things from a unique angle, and have the ability to escape at a moment's notice, drifting away to a different landscape or latitude in an instant. I imagine their life as complete freedom, and I'm envious. Because the feeling of being trapped or staying in the same place for eternity is terrifying to me. Or maybe it's because birds dare to break the shell, pushing through until they finally see the light, spread their wings and begin their journey. It seems like a simple formula for success - you dream, you dare, you fly...

The artist signed this painting with the simple hashtag #WhatLiftsYou, so I ask you the same. What lifts you in life? Unfortunately, as humans, we don't have wings. Or, maybe some of you do...:)

My faith lifts me. Stories of the saints, like St.Mary of Egypt, who we commemorate today, for instance. A remarkable story!

Religion plays absolutely no role in my life, but I'm pleased it lifts pleasant people like you during difficult times. Btw, is it you on the avatar? I remember you as a redhead. :)

What lifts you? Feeling that life is so short

This is what is causing part of the anxiety...life is short, and I feel I should be doing something else. Something more meaningful...

Sex only helps me if it's meaningful, and now there are no worthy male candidates in the picture. But, sure, I'm using my vibrator almost every night. This is a way to release tension, and use imagination at the same time...:)

Listen buddy, people don't need wings at all.

as we say - those who were born to crawl can't fly.
you say it a little differently - If God had meant us to fly he’d have given us wings

"those who were born to crawl can't fly.." Never heard the expression. Is it a Russian expression?

This year it's 18 April. :) So, we have a few extra days, but my taxes were done a long time ago. Now, I need to plan a trip with my refund check. But undecided on where to go...

Of course, there are friends in my area, and many overseas who soothe me virtually. The problem is that I'm dealing with a very serious issue now. A terminally ill relative, who has almost no will to live...there is a lot of negative energy that's really unhealthy for the soul.

Sometimes I feel inspiration from my work and after all done I feel the stream of my feelings that are fighting out of me. But in the other hand, even thought I have health, family and had great childhood of mine makes me happy)

No, not yet. :o(

As for the question, it's one good saying i've heard: chances that aren't taken are 100% lost.

Or, another one: life is what happens to you while you make plans.

Point is, going and doing something wicked might get you in trouble, might cause you serious losses of money, but you certainly won't regret it when you're old (if you make it =) ).

Failure.

Initially, it was hard to answer your question when I saw your post. What lifts me? I did not know, it seemed there was nothing in particular. I was returning to this question from time to time wandering about myself until today I have had failed in one thing I was trying to accomplish. And you know what? It didn't disappoint me. Instead, I felt a surge of energy and I was glad to have to do something.

It seems it is the pattern that flows through my life. It is quite possible that I even look to screw things up just to give myself something to do, because failure is fun and a lot of activity to follow, while success (as a happening) is boring and uninspiring.

You wrote the most introspective answer, and I'm glad my post made you think about yourself. :) As you can see by the lack of comments, it's difficult for most people to focus on how to change or make themselves better. Meanwhile, I saw an idiotic post about fingernail polish yesterday that had 300 comments. :)) I agree - success is sometimes boring and uninspiring. There must be something to keep us moving forward in life, some new conquest, achievement or dream to work toward. At least for people like me, and it seems you also. However, many humans (actually, I'm beginning to think most) are satisfied with boring and uninspiring. Because this is "safe."
